Kimberly Villarreal has spent more than 20 years teaching at the same middle school. She currently serves as President and Webmaster of the San Antonio Art Education Association (SAAEA), and President of NETCTA. Additional professional experience includes leadership in education, leading professional development at the TAEA conference and at NEISD, serving as the TCTA Region 20 Advisory Council Representative for four years, as well as volunteering with Green Spaces Alliance’s Picture Your World program for over 15 years.
Villarreal holds a Master’s degree in Art Education and maintains teaching certifications in K-12 Art, 6-12 FCS, and 4-8 generalist. She is a practicing multidisciplinary artist and an active member of TAEA, NAEA, AAFCS, the San Antonio Ceramics Guild, and the San Antonio Quilt Guild.​

With over a decade of nurturing creativity, I blend my experiences teaching art in Mexico and earning my Fine Arts degree at UTSA to inspire students of all ages. Art is for everyone, and I’m here to make it accessible! I’m passionate about making creativity accessible for everyone, no matter their background. ​

Clif Tinker

Clif Tinker has been a professional artist and art educator for more than 40 years. He began teaching and exhibiting with the San Antonio Art Institute in 1986 and currently serves as Fine Arts Department Chair at James Madison High School in San Antonio, Texas. He has held numerous leadership roles with the San Antonio Art Education Association, including President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Chair of the annual Artists Who Teach exhibition.
Tinker holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Houston, a BFA in Painting and Design from The University of Texas at San Antonio, and a Master of Arts degree from UTSA. His work includes major commissions for the San Antonio Spurs, the San Antonio Public Library, and H-E-B. His career and contributions to the arts have also been recognized with a dedicated Wikipedia article. Among his honors are the Friends of the San Antonio Public Library Arts and Letters Award and the Trinity University Excellence in Teaching Award.

 Brittany is a life-long learner, inquirer, and creator. She has enjoyed teaching general education, science, the arts, and gifted education with the most amazing students for the last thirteen years. In art and life, Brittany enjoys blending multiple materials and disciplines to create. Although Brittany has not decided what she wants to be when she grows up, she enjoys getting lost on adventures and creating big messes with her husband, two girls, and dogs.

Kendra Slaughter
Membership/ Community Outreach

Kendra Slaughter is a retired art teacher of 29 years.  She has taught elementary, middle school, and high school art.  During her career she was a multi-time teacher of the month and Honorary PTA Lifetime Award winner.  Kendra also served multiple years as the Electives Department Head.  She currently spends time teaching weaving to teachers at the annual TAEA conference and in the community.  
Kendra holds a Bachelor of Science in Education with (K-12 ) Art certification.  She is a Cum Laude Graduate of Texas State University. 

Juan Zavala Castro
Outreach for non-profit organizations, corporations, cultural centers, and museums

Juan Zavala Castro has spent more than 12 years working in museum education and public programming. Since 2024, he has served as the Education and Public Programs Manager at the Contemporary at Blue Star in San Antonio. Previously, he held education and programming roles at the McNay Art Museum and the Rockport Center for the Arts. In these roles he has provided professional development workshops for educators, school leaders, and corporate organizations.
Zavala Castro holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Southwest School of Art, which later merged with The University of Texas at San Antonio. He has served as a grant evaluator for the Texas Commission on the Arts, His work is represented in public and private collections like City of San Antonio, Texas Public Radio, Northwest Vista College, etc. Juan maintains an active professional art practice, alongside his work in arts education and community engagement.
